How to Apply and Remove Vinyl Decals

The application process for both permanent and removable vinyl are the same.

Multiple Rolls of Colored Vinyl

To Apply Vinyl Decals:

  1. Surface must be smooth and clean for best performance and long life.

  2. Determine where the decal needs to be placed.
  3. Clean the surface you want to apply the decal to and lightly wipe the surface with a little rubbing alcohol to remove oils. Dry.

  4. Remove the back sheet from the decal and place one edge onto the surface.

  5. Rub decal into place (using the edge of a credit card or other flat edge) working your way from one side to the other, removing bubbles along the way.  Rub down in place a little more.

  6. Remove top sheet. Starting at a corner, slowly peel back the top sheet, staying as close to the surface as possible. If the decal begins to lift, press the top sheet back down and rub it back in place and try again.

  7. Enjoy your new decal.

Wet Method:

For smooth waterproof surfaces such as glass, spray the glass with water. The water makes the decal glide until it is where you want it.

1. After removing the paper backing from the vinyl, position the decal into place.

2. While holding an edge of the decal, starting the from center going out, use a squeegee across the top of the vinyl to remove the water under the decal and to remove air bubbles.

3. Repeat the direction of the squeegee until the decal is against the glass.

4. Dry the rest of the surface with a towel.

5. Remove top sheet by starting at a corner and slowly peel back the top sheet, staying as close to the surface as possible. If the decal begins to lift, press the top sheet back down and rub it back in place and try again.
